Summary

Masdar City is a sustainable urban development that fosters an innovation ecosystem, connecting education with research and development, and business with investment opportunities. The project is home to the first clean-tech cluster in the Middle East, integrated with a world-class research institute.

ENGIE Solutions was awarded the contract to provide total facilities management services to Masdar City in 2016. Sustainability is a key objective for our client and to support this aim, ENGIE Solutions introduced several innovative forms of technology to reduce utilities consumption.

ENGIE Solutions was awarded the ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System (EnMS) certification for the provision of facilities management services at Masdar City, which ensures energy management activities are carried out in a systematic manner to improve energy performance. Objectives and targets are regularly set and reviewed to drive year-on-year energy performance improvements for Masdar City. The EnMS includes the understanding of the premises’ efficiency and benchmarking, setting objectives and targets to improve energy performance with opportunities for efficiencies being identified and managed through the fully-integrated CAFM system.

Scope of Work

The scope of services includes full hard, soft and civil facilities management services, including operations and maintenance of electrical systems, HVAC and ventilation systems, potable water, fire detection systems, life-safety critical systems, elevators, BMS, low voltage systems and civil infrastructure work.

The contract also includes managing different tenants for Masdar City, which includes the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), SIEMENS, the Incubator Building which accommodates roughly fifty (50) companies, including notable tenants such as General Electric, Mitsubishi, Schneider Electric Houses and others.
